HDMI-over-IP
Technology for transmitting HDMI video signals over IP networks.
Full Definition
HDMI-over-IP extends HDMI signals over standard IP networks, enabling video distribution beyond the cable length limitations of traditional HDMI. This technology encodes HDMI video (and often audio, USB, and IR) into IP packets for transmission across Ethernet infrastructure, then decodes them back to HDMI at the destination. HDMI-over-IP solutions vary in compression level, latency, and feature support, with options ranging from zero-compression SDVoE to visually lossless compression codecs.
